The Caribbean Research Center is accepting donations to support the expansion and modernization of our “Reading Room” Special Collection.
The Caribbean Research Center is home to one of the oldest Research Libraries Dedicated to the Study of the Caribbean and Its Diasporas.
The CRC’s Reading Room remains the Only Publicly Accessible Special Collection Dedicated to the Study of the Caribbean and Its Diasporas In New York City. While other special collections and digital archives have emerged in recent years, most have concentrated predominantly on the study of Latin America. The Caribbean Research Center remains the only library dedicated to the study of Caribbean-American, Caribbean Immigrant, and Caribbean Diasporic studies.
Our collection includes hundreds of hard copy text, audio-visual files, conference papers, and special reports on Caribbean Literature, History, Culture, and Political Thought. It includes classic works by notable Caribbean authors and publications by less-known, up-and-coming writers in all genres.
In recent years, CRC has limited access to its special collection and its reading room. However, we intend to reopen and expand our services beginning in the 2022-2023 academic year. As you can see our Reading room is currently under reconstruction as we prepare to reopen and expand in the Fall.
We are asking for your support in our efforts to retain and expand our library’s collection and to digitize elements of our collection making them more accessible to both researchers, scholars, and the public at large.
Donations of all sizes can be made by utilizing the link provided below. All donations are tax-deductible. We look forward to your support.
