The Transition Academy helps Medgar Evers College students who are in financial crisis navigate New York City’s complex systems to find adequate housing, address food and clothing insecurities, and foster a sense of well-being and peace of mind.
The Cougar Country Food Pantry offers nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food items as well as fresh produce to students who are enrolled at the College and are experiencing food insecurity.
In meeting students where they are and recognizing their unique circumstances, we help them find solutions so that they can remain in school, lead healthy and productive lives, and pursue their dreams.
We continue to build our capacity to help the growing number of students in need as a direct result of the coronavirus pandemic. Specifically, students are struggling to afford toiletries and other essential items, and we are doing our best to respond.
We are currently seeking partnerships and funding to increase resources for our food pantry, food vouchers, housing and rent assistance, clothing, transportation, care packages, and employment opportunities.
