Transition Academy

Transition Academy was established to support students experiencing homelessness or issues of housing and food insecurity. Our student life specialists offer counseling and support with navigating the New York City housing system, providing food, transportation, and clothing.

Academic Schools

Our four academic schools provide a solid foundation of general education to prepare students to achieve personal and academic goals, through an approach that is fundamentally qualitative and transformative with a student-centered curriculum.

Career and Talent Development

  • Brooklyn Recovery Corp is an experiential learning initiative that fosters collaboration with non-profit organizations and small businesses in the Central Brooklyn Community.
  • CHAMPSS is designed to provide first-year and new transfer students with earned associate degrees, comprehensive support services that include financial, social, academic advisement to ensure a successful matriculation experience at the College.


  • Center for Black Literature broadens and enriches the public’s knowledge and appreciation of Black literature and literary works produced by the people of the African diaspora and the African continent.
  • Caribbean Research Center provides a multidisciplinary understanding of the New York social environment, the diverse social, cultural, and economic characteristics of the Caribbean-American community.
  • DuBois Bunche Center is an academy of scholar-activists and advocates dedicated to forging solutions to the challenges confronting people of color living within urban communities.
  • Center for Law & Social Justice community-based legal organization specializing in addressing racial justice issues. CLSJ provides quality legal advocacy, training, and research services in a personal manner to people of African descent and the disenfranchised.
  • Male Development Empowerment Center - Creating an ongoing learning community of male students organized around academic support, social interaction, civic engagement, and personal development to assist students on their road to graduation.
  • Center for Women’s Development provides specialized personal and confidential counseling for students who may experience life issues during their studies. The Center offers programming to assist and support our students while building a sense of community across campus.
